Ray Zahab - Adventurer/Explorer/Educator
Ray Zahab is a Canadian explorer and ultra-distance runner known for redefining what human endurance can look like in the harshest environments on earth. A former pack-a-day smoker turned elite expedition runner, Ray rose to global recognition after completing the legendary 7,500 km crossing of the Sahara Desert in 111 days—averaging roughly 70 km per day without a rest day—documented in the film Running the Sahara.
His expeditions have since taken him across the world’s hottest deserts and coldest polar regions, including multiple unsupported crossings of Baffin Island, speed records to the South Pole, runs across the Atacama and Gobi deserts, and extreme traverses of Death Valley and the high Arctic.
Beyond his personal achievements, Ray is the founder of impossible2Possible, a nonprofit organization that connects youth to real-world adventure and experiential learning through live expedition education programs. His projects have brought thousands of students virtually into the field, turning exploration into a classroom and challenge into inspiration.
A Fellow and Explorer in Residence with major geographical societies and a recipient of multiple national honors for exploration and service, Ray represents the spirit we value most: bold action, service to others, resilience through adversity, and the belief that ordinary people are capable of extraordinary things.
